BUS SCHOLARSHIPS

The Harris Nature Center Foundation established a School Bus Scholarship Fund in 2010 to enable more area school children to visit the nature center.

Field trips to the nature center are a wonderful way for children to learn about nature firsthand, but many schools no longer have the funding to take advantage of such an opportunity. To help bring children to the Harris Nature Center, the HNC Foundation is offering $100 School Bus Scholarships to teachers. This money is to be used to offset the cost of using a school bus for a field trip to HNC.

Teachers call the nature center (517 349 3866) to book a program and simply ask for the scholarship. They are encouraged to “fill the bus” with 2-3 classes and are limited to one scholarship per school year. To donate to this project, please see the Donations page.

For the 2017-2018 school year, 19 bus scholarships ($2,694.52) allowed 46 classes (1,023 kids) to participate in nature programs.

There are now scholarships available for the 2020-2021 school year.
