Turtle Toast Galas

In celebration of Doug DeLind's Eastern Box Turtle Sculpture, the Foundation held its first Turtle Toast Fundraiser on September 27, 2013. This event continues to be held occasionally to celebrate accomplishments of the Harris Nature Center and Foundation. Past community sponsors include WKAR, HOMTV, Oscar's Bistro, Burgdorf Winery, Meridian Township, Whoa Nelly! and other local businesses.
Explore Nature Raffles

The foundation sponsors a bi-annual raffle promoting outdoor recreation. In 2012, HNC Foundation raffled off a kayak, a pair of cross country skis, and a pair of snow shoes from Summit Sports all generously donated by an anonymous donor. In 2014, three bicycles with helmets from Velocipede Peddler were raffled. The 2016 raffle featured a Black Tip Paddleboard with a Venture Aluminum Adjustable Paddle. Many thanks to the many members of the community who purchased a raffle ticket to support the Nature Center over the years.
Silent Auction at Winter Wonderland Festival

Each January, the HNC hosts their Winter Wonderland Festival which draws hundreds of patrons for a day of cross country skiing, snowshoeing, dog sledding, and more. Inside the building, the Foundation hosts an annual Silent Auction. The success of the Silent Auction has grown over the years. Please visit our Donations page for a list of the generous businesses and individuals who donated to our auction.
Annual Pledge Drive
Each Fall, the Foundation mails out a letter updating friends of the Nature Center with Foundation events for the year and progress on designated projects. This letter also requests donations to the Foundation and invites anyone interested to volunteer to participate in a variety of ways.
Restaurant Nights
HNC Foundation occasionally partners with local restaurants for fundraising nights. During these events, HNC Foundation gets a certain percentage of that evening's sales. Events have been held at Noodles & Co. and Panera Bread, and Culver's.
Whole Foods Market One Dime at a Time Program

From April 1-June 30, 2017, Whole Foods of East Lansing donated proceeds from their "One Dime at a Time" program. Customers who bring their own bag had the option of donating their 10 cent refund to Harris Nature Center. Many thanks to Whole Foods Market of East Lansing and everyone who participated!
Art Plaques

In 2011 the Foundation partnered with the Second Monday Artists to produce hand
painted garden plaques for sale. The beautiful plaques were displayed and sold during
the month of April at Coffee & Friends in Okemos and at the Nature Center Wildflower
event in May.
Additional garden plaques were sold in March, 2012 at the Meridian Area Business
Association (MABA) event at Haslett High School. The HNCF booth also featured
information about the Nature Center and the Foundation. The Foundation joined MABA
in 2011 to further acquaint local businesses with our existence and mission.
